If a youth is unable to function in a family or group setting because they are experiencing significant mental health challenges, a referral can be made to the State Review Team for an in-patient residential treatment program referred to as a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF). The PRTF provides intense professional assistance and therapy in a highly structured, self-contained environment for stabilization and treatment.
For more information about the PRFT referral process, please email DSSBH@state.sd.us.
