Sponsored by SD Behavioral Health, a Division of the SD Department of Social Services, free journals are available for middle school teachers and counselors to help students manage stress, develop healthy habits and work through challenges when they’re struggling.
Teaching resilience and the importance of positive thinking helps students reach their full potential, both academically and personally. So let’s work together and all do our part to help support the resilience and mental health of all kids in South Dakota.

Behavioral Health Career Education
A new behavioral health workforce development website is on its way! We are building this site to be a valuable tool for career exploration. It will serve as a resource for both current professionals and individuals exploring a career in behavioral health.

Journal Details
Journaling can help students improve self-awareness, learn coping skills, achieve goals and reduce stress.
Developed specially for middle school students, these journals feature age-appropriate content and resources including writing prompts, quotes and more to promote self-care, positivity, resilience and other coping mechanisms that help students navigate their day-to-day lives.
*Due to high demand journals are available to order for professionals who work with middle school-aged youth grades 5-9.
Counselor Care Cards
Exercises, prompts, games and other tips to spark meaningful conversations around mental wellbeing makes this a versatile resource for school counselors to use with students in one-on-one's, small groups, and/or classroom instruction.

Order Your Free Prompt Journals
Requests will be processed in the order we receive them. Inventory of materials is limited. Materials are provided by the South Dakota Department of Social Services and are only available to South Dakota residents. A valid South Dakota physical mailing address is required.
Journals will ship approximately 2-3 weeks from when the order is placed.
